The "Commando" sweater has been a staple of both military and casual menswear for decades. These come to AP from surplus stocks of the British Royal Air Force, where they were worn to keep pilots and ground personnel nice and cozy.
These are made of a soft and warm acrylic (wool synthetic) fabric that stretches and forms to your body. They make for a fantastic mid-layer in colder months, and a fashionable outer layer in spring and fall.
Their light blue color makes them an excellent piece of casual wear, providing a neat but tame casual surplus aesthetic. Pair it with a wool watch cap and you'll be damn cozy.
