The patu shawl is one of the most comfy pieces of clothing to come out of Afghanistan. They're woolen shawls (or blankets) meant to be worn during chilly Afghan nights.
While the patu is a quintessential piece of Afghan wear, it was also utilized by American forces during their time in Afghanistan. Cool guy operators often wore these, along with the pakol, to better blend in with the local population.
