Unissued Swedish M/90L Field Pants

Swedish M/90 began its life in the 1970s and was originally intended to camouflage vehicles, aircraft and other large equipment. At this time the Swedes had fully embraced the olive drab uniforms used by most other Western nations during the early and middle Cold War.

As standard-issue camouflage came into fashion this camouflage pattern was reworked for use on clothing and personal gear. Swedish soldiers were seen wearing the pattern as early as 1989.

The M/90 pattern resembles German WWII-era Splinter camouflage because Splittertarn was used as inspiration by Swedish developers. Sweden had also used other patterns resembling Splinter in the past, usually for shelter halves or vehicle camouflage.

M/90  Lätt Uniforms

The M/90 Lätt uniform is Sweden's lightweight, summertime uniform. These are made with a lighter fabric blend that effectively works as a sun shield, but does not have a great deal of insulating ability if not worn with a proper cold weather liner.
