This windbreaker features the Soviet Berezka pattern. Berezka was first developed in 1968 and began to be issued in 1969 (nice). Its purpose was to defeat generation one night vision devices, a task which it may or may not have done effectively. It has been in service with Soviet or Russian forces, among others, since it was first developed.
