The M57 Field Jacket was the first issued garment EVER to use the TAZ 83, commonly known as Alpenflage, pattern. Being adopted in 1955, these jackets were made soon after adoption.
They can be distinguished from the far more common Model 1957/70 Jacket by their lack of rubber elbows, a small pocket inside one of the rear pockets, and internal cuffs on both sleeves. The M57s also utilize a lighter TAZ83 pattern when compared to M1957/70s. M57s are quite collectible and are on the rarer side of European surplus.
Used surplus condition, may show signs of wear. No holes or tears.
Swiss military surplus is famously durable. Heavy fabric, heavy stitching. You can beat up Swiss surplus, it’s made to take lots of punishment.
