They went with one of the more unusual options for the time: the Dutch M1934 design. Characterized by its unusual swooping profile, the Romanian dupe (M39) was defined by odd features and liner variations throughout its storied production run. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eWe have three options on offer, sorted by liner type. The original Dutch-style liners, while not a reliable way of determining if they are one of the original 600,000-piece contract, helmets labeled as \"Dutch\" will have the original profile with crosshatched leather.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eOccupation liners will vary significantly in subtlety of design and style of leather used. One can only assume there was some external factor driving the Germans to have somewhat of a \"fuck it\" mentality when producing more helmets for Romania. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eLastly, the postwar rework helmets will have a mix of Soviet era liners. The hole is meant to allow the helmet to be easily hung\/stowed when not worn. While original Dutch M1934 and contract-made Romanian helmets had crests on the front, the 1940 exile of King Carol meant that remaining Romanian pieces were to be defaced.
